Award-winning bartender, Fever-Tree ambassador, and comedian, Trish Brew sat down with FDM to answer a few questions!
So Trish, what’s your background in the industry?
I’ve been a bartender for 12 years, 8 of which were spent lurking in a luxe basement/institution known as Gin Palace, Melbourne.
Why is it important to have a quality mixer such as Fever-Tree
If you’re going to mix a drink, why not mix with the best!? Fever-Tree source the highest quality ingredients from all over the world. It’s absurd to choose a quality spirit only to then quell it with a meagre mixer.
What’s your go-to cocktail at the moment?
It’s rather brisk weather in Melbourne currently, so I’m leaning towards darker spirits. Ginger is my favourite winter flavour so either a smokey Mamie Taylor or a Rye Buck with Fever-Tree ginger beer, simple yet delicious!
Are there any cocktails that you’d like to see disappear from lists worldwide?
The Molotov cocktail. Can’t we all just get along?
What’s the roughest shift you’ve ever had?
World Gin Day. 23 hours straight. I had to go and get mimosas afterwards as I was too afraid to sleep.
You decide to open your own bar, what would be the theme?
Probably a neighbourhood bar with good food, quality booze and chill vibes. Regular customers make the job worthwhile.
